Sir Lockwood Smith is a former New Zealand International Trade minister and high commissioner to the U.K. He did much of the early work on what became CPTPP. John Weekes is a senior business adviser with Bennett Jones LLP in Ottawa. He served as Canada’s chief negotiator for the original NAFTA and as Canadian ambassador to the WTO. Both serve, pro bono, as commissioners on post-Brexit challenges faced by the U.K. for an advisory council to Competere, a London based trade law and economic policy consultancy.
